thordurm
Hi, I need some advice for my first Hackintosh. First I need to know if I should go for a cheaper version of X58 or buy a good old p55 (which everybody seems to be using) These are the p55 I´m considering: Gigabyte S1156 GA-P55M-UD2 Gigabyte S1156 GA-P55A-UD3R MSI P55-GD65 Asus P7H55-M PRO The GA-P55M-UD2 seems to have everything I need so I don´t see why I should get a more expensive, if you think the other are in some way more compatible with Hackintosh then comment. Here are the x58: MSI X58M MSI X58 Pro-E ASRock X58 Extreme Are those compatible with mac os? Or do I need to buy more expensive like GA-X58A-UD3R. Is X58 in some way more difficult to set up than p55? Thank in advance Thordur
Mackilroy
X58 is no more difficult than P55, and there are a lot of people using both platforms. I have an EX58-based hackintosh myself. I would stick with Gigabyte for motherboards in most cases, they've got the most support and are very easy to get working. If you wanted to go with a P55 system, I'd get the P55M-UD4P or the P55-UD2. I wouldn't use any of those X58 motherboards – I would go with the Gigabyte models. Don't forget that you can also check here for a list of confirmed hardware working with 10.6.3. It's not complete, but it's pretty good. You can also look at just 10.6 or 10.6.2 for more ideas.

thordurm
Thanks for you advice So...... I should either go with GA-P55M-UD2 or buy twice as expensive GA-X58A-UD3R? What are the advantage of x58 and i7 920(930) compared to p55 and i5-750?
