Ed
Apple has quietly rolled out an updated version of the entry-level $999 MacBook. The revised polycarbonate unibody MacBook now boasts a 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics, and up to 10 hours of battery life. At just $999 this MacBook represents great value when you consider its base specs are 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 250GB HD @ 5400RPM, 8x SuperDrive, and an LED-backlit 1280x800 pixel widescreen. The MacBook remains the most affordable way to own a brand new portable Mac as Apple has expressed no interest in entering the netbook space - for details on how to hack netbooks for Mac OS X for ultra-affordable portable Mac computing, make sure you check out our sister site myMacNetbook. MacSnowLeopard
I thought they would have advertised this more. jwappleby
That must be why Microcenter in the U.S. has been selling them at $799.00 rather than $999.00 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218796-macbook-quietly-updated-faster-geforce-320m-and-10-hour-battery/#findComment-1471452 Share on other sites
rheneas
Why do they continue to feature 5400RPM HDDs? So dated. booger_sniffer5000
Why do they continue to feature 5400RPM HDDs? So dated. They are less likely to fail than the faster HDs. VFR_Pilot
Why do they continue to feature 5400RPM HDDs? So dated. Lower power consumption than 7200 rpm drives, so they can claim that 10 hour battery duration perhaps? Ghasse
Lower power consumption than 7200 rpm drives, so they can claim that 10 hour battery duration perhaps? I can attest to that.. I got out and bought one.. The battery didn't last more than 5 hrs with all the recommended settings and I was only browsing the web, doing the occassional download. Me using the 7200 RPM. Guess you can only get 8 hrs if you are using SSD.
