Alimdoener
I'm running an old MBP 15" with Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Whenever I try to create another partition using the Disk Utility on my internal HDD it never goes beyond "editting partition-table". What could be the cause? Or your partition table is so messed up only a clean initialization will fix it. Run a smartctl.

It sounds like you might need to optimize/defragment your drive.
