chris lopo
I'm using OS X 10.4.7. Here is my hardware: Celeron D 326 (2,5 Ghz) Intel D101Ggc ATI x300 PCI-E Pata 40GB 72k rpm The sistem took a loooooooong time to install, to boot, to install and open softwares. I'm almost gaving up (at least for the next 3 months, when I will do a processor upgrade). Can I do something to have some speed up? kernalzero
how much DDR do you have and have you checked your hardware with the wiki compatibility lists? Also, last I checked, and someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the only way you can install 10.4.7 is by upgrading from 10.4.6...if that is the case did you ever have luck with previous versions of osx86? Deviant0ne
Did you install the correct instructions for your CPU (SSE2 vs. SSE3)? That might have something to do with your slow system... Could be the amount of memory you have installed or any other number of possibilities... We need more info. chris lopo
I forgot this detail: 1GB DDR400 1. How can I know if the system is using SSE3? 2. There must be something wrong. It tooks 2 hours to install. I did the same kind of install in my computer at work (Dell 170L / Pentium IV 2,8 / 1GB DDR400), and it's beautiful there. Installation tooks 20 minutes. Praktiker
Had the same problems with my Toshiba Tecra S1. I solved it with deactivating everything in the bios which had to do with power saving. After that it run very fast. regards Praktiker. kernalzero
That celeron D should be SSE3. if you have windows installed/running on that other HD you can download and run cpuid. It will tell you what you want to know about your processor Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21649-my-system-is-verrrrrrrrrrrrryyy-slowwwwwwwwwww/#findComment-143177 Share on other sites
Deviant0ne
You could tell if your proc was SSE3 with CPUz (Google for it) under Windoze. Something else you could try would be disabling USB keybooard and mouse support in your BIOS. OS X wouldn't install on my system without that step. chris lopo
Sorry for the late... Praktiker: I did the changes in the bios disabling all kind of power option. No results. kernalzero and Deviant0ne: I did it before install to be sure that the processor has the SS3 support. It also has EM64T. xandiztxu
Probably you have a VIA chipset, and its not load correctly so only after installation you can fix it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21649-my-system-is-verrrrrrrrrrrrryyy-slowwwwwwwwwww/#findComment-143809 Share on other sites

Salami
This may be a dumb question, but did you read and follow all of the speed tips posted on osx86project? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/SpeedBoost I had the same problem, followed some of these tips, and now my os x runs faster than my windows xp! kernalzero
http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...amp;hl=ATI+x200 this was a work around that worked for 10.4.4 and flawlessly upgraded to 10.4.6. I assume it won't be hard to go from there to 10.4.7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21649-my-system-is-verrrrrrrrrrrrryyy-slowwwwwwwwwww/#findComment-144251 Share on other sites
chris lopo
Well... After trying to apply a patch for PATA driver following wrong instructions, my OS X is giving me nothing than "i/o error" now. So I will collect every kind of information about Intel D101Ggc, ATI X200 Southbridge, ATI x300 PCI-E and how to be rich enough to buy a MacBook Pro and a Ferrari to build my dream O.S. And, If everything ok, try to write my page on OS X86 history. Thanx! kernalzero
Damn I'm sorry Christian Lopo I was hoping those links would help you not ruin your install completely. I hope you get it up and running again in working order soon! chris lopo
No problem my friend! We all learn with the mistakes (in this case, my mistake) Here I go for the 3rd OS X installation! But now I will do all "speed boost" changes before update to 10.4.7.
