imacken
I'm sure I used to have a few cores showing in Activity Monitor/CPU window, but now there is only one. Sys profiler shows total number of cores to be 4. Screen grab attached. Does that seem right for my i7 920?
ileikcaek
Does it show all 4 cores in a smaller separate window if you double click on the graph? If not, it certainly isn't right somewhere. My Activity Monitor shows all 4 cores without having to double click on the graph. /** Off Topic **/ May I ask how you got your computer to identify as a mac pro 4.1? My PC identifies as a Mac Pro 3.1 shows the processor as a quad core Intel Xeon (it's actually a core i5 750) and shows my RAM as 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (it's actually 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3) Maybe it depends on how you install (vanilla/what distro)? I have Hazards 10.6.2 (minus OS X Server components) updated to 10.6.
imacken
Thanks a lot for the tip on double-clicking in Activity Monitor. I'd forgotten that. As far as your other question is concerned, I use retail Snow, no distros. If you look at my sig, you'll see the boot file I use, and that is the main reason why things like the CPU and RAM are identified correctly. It is based on Chameleon RC4. You also need to have a SMBIOS.plist appropriate for 4,1 also.
