Mr.Techie456
Lately I've been trying to make a downloads available for my website, and I haven't been successful. So does anybody know how to make downloads available on a website, and how to incorperate it into a button?
agent-squirrel
You should just be able to set up a link and change the URL to the file on your server that you wish people to be able to download. Your browser will do the rest when someone clicks it.
Mr.Techie456
But how do I make so somebody can download certain files to they're hard drive(like .PDF, .html, .php, javascript, .xml, and other web based files for websites)?
agent-squirrel
I'm not sure I fully understand your question but if for instance you had a file like; File1.pdf and you wanted people to be able to download it you would upload it to your server say to a folder called 'Downloads' then you would create a link to it. E.g - "<a href="/Downloads/File1.pdf">Click here to download.</a>" When someone clicks that link it would open up a box saying, where would you like to download the file to. Mr.Techie456
Yeah baisically like the example you gave. <a href="/downloads/file.html">click to download</a> (but be able to download other formats that usually open in the web browser.) Griffwill
if it opens in the browser, right click, "Save to Downloads," "Save as..." then it will go to where ever you saved it. the fact that is open means they can DL it.

savj14
I'm confused here. So you have a website I assume? And you want to have a button on this website? Send me a PM with the website if this is the case so I can see more what you're talking about. I can help you out.
