Heads up for dual boot users mounting Windows drives with NTFS-3G. NTFS-3G 2010.3.6AR.2 release has been updated to support the automatic hiding of . (dot) files written to NTFS drives using the hide_dot_files mount option. I haven't had a chance to test it yet for reasons stated below, but this should automatically set the +h (hidden) flag on all those pesky .DS_Store and .mypicture01.jpg files cluttering up your drives. As long as you have the "Show Hidden Files" option in Explorer disabled these files should now be invisible.

The available builds are Linux only for now. As this is the advanced NTFS-3G fork, I expect it could take a while for this code to make it into a stable branch. It could come to the $35 Tuxera sooner, but no guarantees. This means you'll have to compile the source yourself if you want to test it out. http://www.tuxera.com/community/ntfs-3g-advanced/
