Black Screen (SL Server Retail DVD + myHack)

Im currently trying to install SL Server on my desktop (It's a syntax motherboard) i've detach the gfx card and just stayd with the motherboard and 80 GB hard drive.

 

I've done the process of installing SL and iDeneb Leopard on a XPS 1530, so i've been through the process.

 

Here is what happens, I've restore a "Mac OS X Server Install Disc" on a 80 GB IDE laptop drive and use it on a external case as USB drive, I've run the "myHack" utility and succesfully install it. I've set my motherboard to boot with USB HDD, etc.

 

The "myHack" starts it loads all extensions on verbose mode. This is the last screen before i get stucked on a Black Screen.

I tried using the iDeneb 10.5.8 for the desktop I get to "install it" but would get stuck on a black screen after all files are copied.

 

Sounds like gfx issue but I've detach my "nV FX5200" and now im just using the motherboard integrated.

 

Any ideas, solutions, tests to check where can I found the problem.

What exactly is the version of "myHack" you used (it's the final or...), what did you check on "myHack" install screen, and WHAT is your exact model of your motherboard? (more info, possibly better support)

Well here the info I can remeber/discover of my hard ware:

 

Syntax Motherboard (old one) P4SVM266A

VIA P4M266A NorthBridge

VT8235 Southbridge

 

S3 Savage4 Graphics Accelerator on Main Board / GeForce FX5200 on AGP 4x Slot

 

Pentium 4 / 2.66 Ghz / HT (Hyper threading)

 

And a IDE Hitachi 80GB HD

 

Issues I understand are: P4 support / IDE Drive / GeForce FX 5200

 

Im using "myHack Installer 1.0".

 

But, just a minut a go I tried the "Snow_Leopard_Client_Server_10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard.iso"

 

I get to run the installer but on boot from HD I get the same black screen.

 

On the "my hack" config I've tried the "Chocolat Kernel" and always including the: AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

also tried with both "GraphicsEnbler/Disbler" an with and without my GfxCard (and still get the black screen) the thing is I dont get an ERROR or kernel PANIC :/

 

On the "Hazard" I use the "Legacy" kernel and the NVinject/AppleIntelPIIXATA Kexts

Im still on trial & error with this "Hazard" DVD.

 

I'll appreciate any ideas.

First, you can't run the vanilla (original) kernel with that P4 (need a patched kernel, like that one - chocolate)

 

Second, choosing AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext+IOATAFamily.kext should give you the support needed

 

Third, the problem with the black screen it's probably coming from your graphic card (i would even bother with the one integrated, and especially in snow leopard)

 

Fourth, maybe you'll find some injector kext (i'm not really sure which one to use), for your FX 5200, but still...is an agp...so...not really sure for the support there either...

 

Fifth, if you want os x sever for your machine, why don't you try leopard? I think you can find easily a patched distro, "signed" by the legend Jas at the bay (i think the version is 10.5.4); Maybe you'll have more chances of success there

Try this boot132 by blackosx using GraphicsEnaber=Yes as a boot argument

I just manage to install SL (not server version) with the Hazard DVD.

 

I Use a "Legacy Kernel"

 

And the trick of the "AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext+IOATAFamily.kext" AND "VIAATA.kext/SuperVIAATA.kext" helped me out.

 

Got to get my VIA Rhine NIC working and My Linksys WMP300N working.

 

Just having some issues with the USB and the GFX card. For the card I've found no solutions still.

 

I'm gona keep posting. Maybe this helps some one.

Hey, thanks. I manage to install it using the "Hazard" DVD version. Just got the SL running still figuring out if I can get the Server version running.

 

I'll keep posting work progress.

For usb ports, try looking in the bios for any usb configuration and try enable them, and also do you already running with an dsdt file or not? (make one and use it)
