Takuro
I'm trying to install OS X on my sister's computer, which has an AMD 64-bit processor, with the Jas 10.4.6 dvd. I burned an installation DVD which I ran natively. It got up to the boot screen with the grey apple logo, but the machine suddenly shut down. I realized I used the last DVD-R that I had, so I patched the DVD to "increase compatability" and instead I loaded the iso in daemontools, then pointed VMware to the virtual disc drive. However, VMware doesn't even get up to the boot screen. It shows this error: Loading Darwin/x86 Ebios read Error : media Error Block 8957672 Sectors 64 .... (repetitions of the above error) ... Panic (cpu0 caller 0x00399ca3) : unable to find driver for this platform : "ACPI" I loaded the iso in VMware on my own computer, and it worked fine. I even sent her computer my vmware configuration file, but it didn't fix anything. Any ideas?
asap18
Maybe you should try the orginal and not the "compatibility patched" one?

If that doesn't work, set the guest OS to Windows NT and also hit F8 in VMware when the VM is booting to get to the boot prompt. Now type in "-legacy" without quotations and hit enter and OS X should boot because this bypasses the ACPI.
