Did you find a solution to this? I want to build a system with that same motherboard, and need to use the firewire port with an echo soundcard. grc
Did you find a solution to this? I want to build a system with that same motherboard, and need to use the firewire port with an echo soundcard. I haven't found any solution to firewire problems. I've tried ti chipset PCI Express, ti chipset PCI, VIA chipset PCI. Nothing works. The best was the ti chipset PCI Express, but even that crackles occasionally with audio data, and disk access is unreliable. This is on an ASUS P5KPL-AM but I guess that doesn't matter as the firewire cards I was trying are all add in cards. I wanted it to use various firewire audio modules that I have. I've replaced some of them with USB versions now and they work just fine. I really do wish I could find a firewire solution though. I spent ages messing with PCI timings in the BIOS, some had a beneficial effect, some made it worse, but none cured it. Good luck!
