Lars Headfuzz
I posted this on netkas.org last night but given the most recently approved comment on that thread os from January it may not be visible for a while. ***FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING THE BLACK SCREEN WITH MOUSE CURSOR AFTER 10.6.2 UPDATE, THERE IS A WORKAROUND TO SOLVE THIS, SEE BELOW*** NOTE: If you have previously set up Screen Sharing you can VNC into your 10.6.2 system and don’t have to do steps 1 and 3. 1) Boot into single user mode (safe mode *may* work, I didn’t try it) and copy the vanilla 10.6.2 NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV50Hal.kext files out of /System/Library/Extensions to somewhere else (Desktop for example) and reboot with -f which will give you nasty graphics but graphics nonetheless. 2) Now go into System Preferences and activate a Hot Corner (aka “Active Screen Corners” – I prefer top left personally ) in the Exposé and Spaces Preferences Pane to sleep the display. 3) Copy the kexts back to /System/Library/Extensions and repair permissions accordingly. 4) Reboot and wait for the black screen to appear. Move your mouse to the hot corner you selected to sleep the display. Now move it again to bring the display out of sleep. VOILÀ! Perfect display and hardware support with the native 10.6.2 kexts. It’s a bit messy but works for me flawlessly. For the sake of a mouse movement and hot corner I can live with this minor blip until someone works out what’s causing the black screen. This works a charm on my Core2Duo/8400GS media centre so fingers crossed should help some of you too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210718-black-screen-with-mouse-cursor-after-1062-update-workaround-here/ Share on other sites

JustinHoMi
Hah, bizarre. I had the same problem, and I was able to temporarily remedy it by adding a second user... and voila, it worked again. But sure enough, the problem cropped up again. I had been using GraphicsEnabler=Yes, and I also tried adding an EFI string. Nothing work, until I tried nvEnabler 64, which is *perfect*. Very happy now!
