Hi everyone,

I'm new here (and I don't have the ability to make threads/topics yet, so sorry). I'm attempting to install iAtkosv7 (Leopard) on my Dell Optiplex GX280. Installation succeeds each time I install, but I can't get into the OS after rebooting. Sometimes, I get four lines of text when attempting to get in, and then an endless reboot loop begins. Other times, it'll get to the gray Apple screen (that you get when booting) but an emptiset (the zero with a backslash through it). With the Chamelion bootloader, I can get through install, but after it tries loading darwin, it flashes the gray Apple screen and reboots a second later, and then getting into a reboot loop.

Specs:

Dell GX280 Slim Tower

Intel P4 w/ HT @ 2.8 GHz

2.5GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX4000 128MB GPU

What else do you need? Thanks in advance.

Dennis

You should probably posted in a more related thread, you can't make your own thread?

Here is a (somewhat old) guide for that machine: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87028

You definitely want to use Chameleon. If Voodoo kernel is available on that iAtkos distro, you'll want to use it since you have a P4 machine. Boot with the -v flag (verbose) in Chameleon and note what it says before it restarts.

1. I've tried making my own thread but I get a board message when attempting to.

2. When using Chameleon, it will Install, but once rebooting, when it shows the "press a key to get startup options", if I let it just boot, it will display the gray screen for a second, then endless reboot cycle, same thing with the -v flag, -x, -s, and -f.

3. It doesn't say anything when loading into OS X. With the regular bootloader, it will display some kind of ACPI 2 error.

hi i do not have the ability to create a new thread either so any help is appreciated what distro should i use? and could you help me with installing it i would like to try it with virtual box first.
