Hi,

My name is Bart and I'm from the Netherlands. For the last two days I'm tying to run the IPC 10.5.6 Universal distro and to be honest I'm a bit of a noob. I'm Trying to run it on a left over computer.

Dell Dimension 8300

VidCrd: ATI Radeon 9600

Snd: Onboard ac97

On IDE

HD 1 C:Windows XP

HD 2 D:Pri Windows 7 Ultimate

E:Sec Max OS86

Selected. Drivers (i Think, did not wrote it down)

SpeedStep Kernel

AGPGart 2.7.1

Intel ICHx SATA Drivers

Audio: Ac97

Intel Pro 100 V/E

CPUS=1 One Core Fix

PS/2 Keyboard Fix

AppleSMBIOSEFI (after fail message)

So the problem is I get stuck on every boot on the line "NTFS volume name LACIE version 3.1". Strangely there is some usb mouse support as somethimes after getting stuck the mouse indicater shows up. I can move it and it eventualy will dissappeare. This is every single time. I've tried the command -v -f and the command -v cpus=1 (shouldn't be needed as I did the One Core Fix,...... I think).

I found (search button) a guy in the forum who has the same problem but he chose the easy way. Installing an older version. And btw nobody replied on his question. Didn't help me.

I hope somebody has an answer for me or some new insight.

Greetings,

Bart Koopman

Ok, So when you typed '-v' What line of information did it show you before it stopped ?

Maybe you didn't format your partition As Mac OS Journaled (HFS+)

The last line before it got stuck it said :

NTFS volume name LACIE, version 3.1

(white square)

So I have one HD with two partions D and E.

D is NTFS ands E is Mac OS Journaled, as the instructions of the IPC distro recommended, but not the HFS+ (Journaled, case sensative?)

No that's all fine, you may need to mark the mac partition as active and primary. But i'm not sure i haven't heard of such error. What i would try is if you have a portable harddrive spare install it onto that and see if it boots, it may be something hardware, How long did you leave it after the white square?

Say 10 minutes. I'm trying the Case sensitive option. Cause,.... I've pluged the 250 Gig Lacie Porche design HD into the computer by IDE (doesn't have SATA and I don't have the SATA Connector Cable) and changed the HD from the Case with an old Maxtor HD BUT I've come to the conclusion the lacie mob case doesn't work without the slave/master/cable selc plug witch is missing. And I've recently thrown away a few old HD's with such a connector plug. (..............hmmmm) (Didn't look in the attic,............... yet, for an old computer)

About the Case sensitive option. Don't know anything yet cause the bootloader says \chain0 status 0xc0000007 missing or corrupt. ----> I'm looking in to this one. (don't know if something went wrong or i need something else to boot instead of chain0)

Ok the status 0xc0000007 was caused by me making a mistake in the bootrecord. Now it says boot1=error. I think this is the answer/problem. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t148444.html

Ok, so your dual booting with xp i see? What would be easier to install mac onto one hard drive and windows on another because if your already suggesting putting another hard drive into your computer? or did i read wrongly.

You could also try and use a chamelon bootloader, im not sure about it because i don't dual boot i prefer seperate hard drives.

if you have msn: lloydowen@talktalk.net im on there most hours of the day :P

Sorry if i didn't understand you correctly.

Wow, starting off at the hardest i see ? Read ALOT Of guides and information before doing this ok! because you don't want to risk loosing all of your partitions, doing something wrong i assume :D Also you can't use chain0 if your going to use windows 7 and xp you have to use a grub loader such as darwin i believe correct me if im wrong. or bootbcd in windows 7

So got good news. I got it booted by trail and error. I think the biggest improvement was not going for the journaled formated "Mac Os Extended". So the simplest one of all. And of course the voodoo kernel. Didn't got good video support. not more than 1024x768 and no audio. But ethernet worked.

I'm continuing tomorrow after work till the party starts.

It boots. Safari works. Can't download anything. Mounting the download causes an panic. No audio. Not much of video support.
