kankraka
I'm using an older native install DVD because the latests version I just aquired requires darwin installed first. The older DVD works awesome on my P4 desktop, no sse3 though, so it crawls along, reminds me of my wallstreet running 10.2 when I had itunes/firefox/msn running , slow! Anyways, the native install DVD will work _sometimes_ the spinning cursor will sometimes stall, and other times I'll get the mac booting screen (looks reeeally sexy on a 17 inch screen ) But, it does this eventually..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/kan...-06-06_1139.jpg Sorry for the low reso, cellphone capture :\ for the record same install running on my P4: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/kankraka/osx86.jpg Any advise? kankraka
Still having the same problem after going through and following the tutorial to a "t." I've got three versions of OSX86, one simply titled "generic tiger" that _sometimes_ get's farther than the spinning | upon hitting enter, one called 10.4.6 install and one called MacOSX_10.4.6_GoatsecksDVD. The latter two won't even boot, it says something about not finding some config dealy.. apple.boot.plist i think. Either way, those two don't boot either. Anyone have any ideas? I toasted my HP's recovery drive to make a logical FAT32 partition, so, it's all or nothing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20190-osx-booting-issues-on-dv8210ca/#findComment-133808 Share on other sites
gwprod12
The "No" sign you're seeing is most likely caused by "Waiting for root device" errors. you can boot in verbose mode and find out for sure. Since you're on a laptop, it might be difficult to fix. kankraka
I've tried and tried and tried to boot in verbose mode... the most that happens is the spinning / dealy. it spins half way around, and then halts. Half the time I try to boot in normal mode does the same, on the odd ocassion it will go to the grey screen until i get the waiting for root device . I have no idea what to do here, I've tried three ISO's, one gets progress, the other states it can't find System config file `/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist ... Could the last error be a possible burn error on the iso?
