Sveg
Hi, I'm running 10.6.2 on a rampage II gene(x58 ich10R) MoBo, Everything thing is working well apart from sleep (which I can cope without) and now I've discovered my (p)ATA philips dvd drive isn't working. it doesn't show up in system profiler at all. It did work on 10.5.7. Searched but to no avail. Any help gratefully received, Sveg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198079-ata-dvd-drive-not-recognisedsolved/ Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
ICH10 does not have PATA support. Your motherboard uses a separate PATA controller, you need to find out what make and model it is so you can install the right driver for it. For example, if it's a Marvell controller you need AppleVIAATA.kext. Sveg
Thanks for your help, I found out I needed the jmicron kext, really simple after all. Now I understand a bit more about controllers on the mobo. Sveg
I have same problem. I haven't had a chance to find the solution. I googled my motherboard to find out which controller my pata socket was and downloaded the appropriate kext e.g. Jmicron = jmicron.kext or Marvell = appleviaata for the kexts try http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/09/downloa...pard-3264-bits/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198079-ata-dvd-drive-not-recognisedsolved/#findComment-1341647 Share on other sites
