blasteryui
hey guys I either have a x1600 or x1650 I forget, I'm on a notebook. Anyways, i tried installing a driver through kext helper, but I don't think it did anything cause I still cant change my resolution and sometimes there are artifacts on the screen, and most of all I can't watch HD on youtube which I could on windows. Could somebody provide me a driver and how to install it, thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197337-x1600/ Share on other sites

If your card is a x1600 xt (71c0), it works fine with QE/CI and resolution with the IPC driver "RADEONX1600.pkg" 10.5.6 updated to 10.5.8 via mac update but won't work on SL. Okay, I'm kinda confused of what you said. I have kalyway i used ideneb update to 10.5.8, so do I just search RadeonX1600.PKG and install that drive? What is SL? It does not work on that? I'm just a little confused sorry. THANKS for the reponse though, I never get a repsonse. Before getting snow leopard, I had installed IPC OSx86 10.5.6 universal final using this tuto: http://www.taranfx.com/blog/install-mac-os...in-9-easy-steps, checked "Ati Radeon x1600" in the process of the install and upgraded to 10.5.8. After that I got QE/CI and right resolution enabled. Here is RadeonX1600.pkg but not sure whether it will work on kalyway and also this package needs to be upgraded to 10.5.8: x1600. Last time I used a kext and I had to reinstall os x More wise to reinstall your system using the IPC distro. As long as your card is a x1600 xt (71c0), I can guarantee that it'll work but as you still haven't let me know the exact specs of your graphic card so it's difficult to say. As we don't have the same card, better to wait for someone'advice who's made it work successfully. If I had your graphic card, I would attempt to install IPC or even snow leopard as I noticed these topics: here and there. But it's not that simple to do and also the best option is to install mac on usb drive and then copy back to your internal drive using copy carbon cloner when it's ok. If you're willing to do so, here is a tuto to install snow leopard: here.
