Hey guys!

I have found a lot of good answers on these the InsanelyMac forums, and I am confident that the community can help me out.

I installed Leopard on my HP Pavilion dv9743cl notebook (basically a 9700) with the latest iPC disk, after having limited success with an iATKOS disk. After I figured out which drivers to use, and got my Mvix Nubbin network card working, everything is working almost perfectly. However, I started getting what is apparently called Kernel Panic after working on my installation for a few minutes. I manually restarted my computer, but it happened again.

During my install, I believe that I used the default kernel on the iPC disk, rather than one of the many other options.

I always try to download Firefox right when I boot up, but I am never able to install it by the time I get kernel panic. I started noticing that this often happened precisely when the download window in Safari showed that the DMG was being mounted, but when I rebooted, I never saw a complete download in the folder. I was wondering if that could be related to the issue, but I have mounted a DMG successfully before, the installer for my wireless card.

So then, I thought that I must have a bad kernel, so I looked around, but I could not see how to install a new one. I had read something somewhere that made it sound like new Chameleon installations came with updated Voodoo kernels, so I installed the second release candidate for the latest version. I got a cool-looking bootloader, but I still had kernel panic.

At this point, I am lost. Could anyone direct me to a place where I can download a different, compatible kernel, or otherwise figure out why I am having these issues?

Much appreciated.

---Jacob
