lkelly2006
After updating to 10.6.2 I noticed that my CPU was running at 170 Degrees Fahrenheit. Dangerously hot! After much research and trials ( fan apps, DSDT, etc) nothing seemed to help. I found an article that mentioned AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. I deleted this kext along with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext and my CPU seems to be running 25 Degrees + cooler! Also removed NullCPUPowerManagement.kext since it would now be useless with the other two removed. So far I haven't noticed anything negative by removing these two. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any other workarounds known? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197178-1062-cpu-overheating/ Share on other sites
macwanabe
I also noticed very high CPU temperatures, looking into it. I am running without the kexts and my temp changes between 140 and 160 without any cpu load. ishcabittle
i can confirm that removing those kexts brought my temps down dramatically, running a Lifehacker GA-EP45-UD3P. lkelly2006
BTW I'm using http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19994 to monitor Temp. I tried CPU-I and SMCFanControls and they didn't work that great. Any suggestions?
