Hello, today I tried installing OSX on my PC (iATKOS v7) and I used the following flag:

-v -f maxmem=2048

I also tried many other flags too.

But nothing worked, I only saw the black screen with annoying white text and at the bottom it says:

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

I have a SATA harddisk and there is no option to turn it to ACHI in BIOS...

PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Is there is any distro which won't give me this sucking error?

My System Config:

HP Pavilion Slimline 3130.sc

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4400+ ~2.3GHz

4096MB (4GB) DDR2 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE 256M

320GB SATA HDD

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Edit: This post should be closed. I got it working, actual guide is here:

Do a forum search. This issue is very common! Very! Esp. with MBs for AMD CPUs.

In general there are several main reasons why it can happen:

If both DVD and disk drives are connected inappropriately

If ACHI mode is not enabled (not the case)

If there are no appropriate chipset driver present on the install DVD (most likely the case)

If a DVD drive is IDE and HHD is SATA (this combination is known not to work on some MBs; this might also be the case)

So do yourself a favour, and do a forum search by the chipset the MB has.

Hello to everyone!! I am glad to found you! I have the same problem with ToH RC2 Leopard.

My System Config:

AMD Phenom II 965

ASUS M4A79T Deluxe

8GB DDR3 RAM

ATI HD 4350

2TB SATA HDD

DVD-RW SATA

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

I finally made it!!

I put the HDD to the first SATA of my motherboard and changed from the bios the IDE option to ACHI.

But now i can't boot to Windows 7 or Mac OS X Leopard without the Chameleon boot cd. Is there a solution for this (to have dual boot, Windows 7 and Mac OS X Leopard)?

I also don't have internet with the motherboard network card and the resolution is fixed to 1024X768.

Thank you very much!!

Hi,

Im trying to install 10.5.6 on my laptop, which is an hp pailion zv5000, and the only thing in the list above that i can see why i get the "Still waitin for root device" in -v mode, is because of the chipset.

Problem is, i done a search for it, and cat find anything about it?

The only info i can get from CPUID is that the chipset is ATI.

(My CPU is an Intel® Pentium® )

Anyone know how i would be able to fix this?
