broken
I assume that $600 budget is just for the PC, not including monitor, correct? What is important to you? I know you mention doing coding, but is there anything particular thats of importance to you hardware wise? With $600 you are going to be looking at a Core2Duo or Quad setup. Here is my generic $600 hardware list: 4 gigs ram, a fast 640 gig Hard drive, good video quality (not for gaming though), DVDR, excellent Quad core cpu and a nice power supply and case. Plenty of room on that list to adjust some stuff around to better suite your needs/budget. BabicaAndreja
You assumed correctly, no monitor included. Well overall system response time, i dont want to wait to much.. but the only important think for this system is to run xcode decently, no games anyway:) Thx, i guess i will take your system and add some more ram. Zaap
If you really need more RAM, then it's best to step up to a full-sized ATX motherboard. (Which would also mean a full-sized ATX case as well). The G41 board does have 8GB of RAM capability- unfortunately, it only has 2 RAM slots. In practical terms, that means it'll cost you a bloody fortune for 2x 4GB DDR2 modules if you can even find any. Look into a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard- those have 4 slots which gives you an effective ceiling of 8GB using inexpensive 2GB sticks. (Same 4x 4GB problem going to the max of 16GB however.) It's one of the best-supported boards for OSx86, easy to set up, lots of guides, very compatible, etc. Of course the same of everything else on the list (except mATX case) will work great with the UD3P board.
