Hello - I am running snow leopard in 64-bit and lost networking when i moved from 32-bit to 64-bit. I am now using IONetworkingFamily.kext and networking is working. I do find that sometimes I boot up and dhcp won't work and I am stuck with a 'self assigned' ip address which does not let me use the network. A reboot fixes this.

I was wondering if there is a more reliable way of doing this. I have read that a DSDT patch can be used instead of messing with kexts (my motherboard is the gigabyte ex58-ud5 and i am using the on board ethernet). Is this more reliable than using IONetworkingFamily.kext? Is there any other advantage of using DSDT patch rather than IONetworkingFamily.kext?

Cheers,

Doc
