Hi

I am trying to install OSx86 10.5.6 on my aspire 5738... the first the installation hangs at:

ID="1"...IOResourceMatch...boot-UUID-media...

This is solved on turning on AHCI controller in BIOS instead of IDE

However, now it freezes on the very next line...

USBF 1.360....AppleUSBOHCI...CheckSleepCapability...OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep

Is this due to legacy USB? -- there is NO option in my BIOS to turn off legacy features :( (there is no option to turn off any feature except some acer backup {censored} and F12 boot menu)

please help.. ;)

Tried with many combinations of -v -s -x -f -F platform=x86pc fsb=200 cpus=1 rd=disk0s1,

disconnected all usb ddevices, even disabled the touchpad... ripping out the keyboard is what is left..

Specs: Intel C2D T6400 2GHz 800MHz, Intel GMA 4500MHD, 3GB DDR3, 320 GB

Help is much appreciated!!

I got good results on an aspire 5738 using the iAtkos v7 release, you should try it. Mine is installed on an external harddisk though. Only problem is that the internal wifi doesn't work (I use a dongle) and the ethernet card needed a patch to work. Reply here for details if you're still interested =]

Can I installa Snow Leopard on my acer aspire 5738g? Is there any problem? which way I have to use? thanks

The iAtkos v7 (Leopard) works fine on mine, I don't know about Snow Leopard.

If you want to try Leopard NOT Snow Leopard, read on, otherwise I can't help you ;)

Download the iAtkosv7 iso (torrent), burn it to a dvd & boot from it.

Partiton an empty harddisk (external / internal) with Disk Utility (find it from the Utilities menu) & choose the following options when customizing your installation. Most things should just work:

Main System

Bootloader: Chameleonv2

x86 Patches: /Extra directory, DSDT, Decrypters - Apple Decrypt, Disabler, Kernel - 9.7.0

Drivers:

|-System

| |- Sata/ IDE : AHCI (The AHCI option is set in the BIOS

| |- Sound: Voodoo HDA

| |- PS/2 mouse/keyb: Apple PS/2

| |- laptop battery

|-Network (see note)

Post-install Actions

NOTE: I haven't found a way to enable the onboard wifi though, but it doesn't matter since I have a Zydas USB wireless dongle (tick the appropriate driver in the Network section). The onboard ethernet requires a patched driver to work, and will not work out of the box. I'll post again if I remember how I managed to make mine work =]

Goodluck!

i installed it successfull but the keyboard is not regognized and i need to use a usb keyboard for now,

anyone any idea?

thank you.

What machine did you install it on? If you're on an aspire 5738, and installed the iAtkos V7, try booting from the DVD again and installing the Apple PS/2 driver only. IMPORTANT: Read carefully the section regarding "driver only installation" from the release notes.

anyone any idea?

thank you.

Ive installed it and everthing works not the wireless

installed it with the navcom boot cd

Retail snow leopard 10.6.4

bij installing select the legacy kernel to install

install and boot up worked with me without cd

then when every things is installed donwload for intel gma 4500 "x4500 with Quartz gl" from kext.com

insert the kext files with kext helper and you have 1366x768x32 next time you boot up

then install a dongle for internet and have fun with OSX on your aspire 5738

dont use any other updates or combo update

everthing should work
