Hey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590, Dual Core, 2.5GB RAM, x1650 video card. I know I can run Mac OS X quite well. My question however is that if I wipe off Windows XP or make two paritions, and I install Mac OS X, will my laptop run OS X faster then Windows XP or in my case Windows 7? Am I better off sticking with Windows 7. I do animation, graphic design etc, will Mac have the same speeds as Windows 7? Or Faster? Thanks. Oh and also If I do get Mac OS X, which is the best version and by who and do I burn it to a DVD or can I run it while I'm on Windows and will it just install and wipe Windows 7?

Can nobody answer this question..?

As for OS X itself, it is even faster then Linux. My experience has shown, that Windows is far behind of OS X in performance. OS X can "squeeze" all from a hardware and work reliably. So it will definitely outperform any Windows version (not to mention Windows 7).

How it will work on your current system, is another story. It should work well. But one must set-up it properly. My suggestion would be, to install OS X alongside with Windows. Try it, then decide what to do next - stick with Windows or OS X or both. I would stick with both OSes. Some software is available for Windows only. Sure, if all the software you use is available for OS X, then Windows is not needed...

IMHO the best is a Retail-like install. Like http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=127330&hl=

There are many such methods. This one is the best to my mind.

Pros:

fully updatable with software update - like a genuine Mac

Almost retail system - so very stable

Cons:

bit tricky to setup

bit tricky additional extensions installation

In general it gives more then it takes to setup. A working OS X system may be needed to do some pre-install work.

I do not have another Mac so maybe I should not waste the time and download incase I need to do certain things, whats the next thing then? ideneb or iatkos or ipc? or i forget the millions of others xD

Start from an older versions, like Kalyway 10.5.1 then update to a newer, if needed. Do not select any (if installing from Kalyway10.5.1) drivers/patches. It is better to install them later. The only thing you should select is EFI boot loader (ether MBR or GPT) depending on how the disk is partitioned.
