agrabarchuk
So I've been trying to get OS X running in VMware for several days now. I tried pcwiz's image and it worked but I had a lot of issues with it being "pre-made" and wanted a fresh install with my own settings. So I got ideneb 1.4 and have tried installing it on a virtual machine. Here's some of the issues I had - 1. After installation, the OS won't boot unless the virtual drive is mounted with the installation iso. Without it, the VM just restarts itself after POST. The .vmx file has been added to say the guest OS is "darwin-64" but for some reason I can't do anything unless the installer .iso is mounted. This makes it impossible to install anything else because the drive is being used. (I suppose a work around would be to boot, suspend the machine, unmount the iso, and remount whatever I need, but I'm sure there's a way to get around this issue permanently and easily.) 2. Cannot get ethernet to work. I suppose this is due to a lack of drivers during installation. 3. Related to #2 - I don't know which drivers I need to get this to work. Since VMware uses virtual hardware, I don't know if these are necessary, and if so, which ones I should install. If anyone could give a list of what drivers are needed, that would be great. I'm running VMware 6.5.2. Please help me get this fixed. Thank you! EDIT: forgot to mention my physical computer specs. ASUS Maximus formula (x38, intel NB and SB) Q6600 (3.6ghz) 8 gig DDR2 nVidia GTX285 Marvel Yukon ethernet (not sure of model) Creative x-fi xtremegamer PCI sound card Windows 7 x64 Pro host OS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/193319-issues-with-ideneb-14-and-vmware/ Share on other sites

Hmmm...I might as well give that a try. Nothing seems to really work for me so far. EDIT: wow, this is a really good guide. Finally something that I've been looking for from the start. except I'm going to need a retail DVD of leopard...in iso format. Anyone have a link to a torrent? agrabarchuk
Don't ask here or you will likely get banned as against forum rules. sorry about that...I found it anyway and was able to install with no problems. Thanks donk for a great package and awesome tutorial. I have a question about the ethernet though. I configured my VM to use NAT translation and OS X correctly identifies the IP and Default Gateway, however I cannot connect to the net. I think this is due to some of my host's services being set to manual or disabled. Do you know which windows services need to be enabled for NAT translation in VMware to work?
