Anyone able to assist?

My youtube videos are delayed (video is behind) also tested with videos from other sources.. same problem.

My clock is also delayed by about 1-5 minutes

I thought maybe it was a video card driver issue (because i STILL can't change the resolution out of 1280 even though System Information says i have a 8600 GS)

But i've installed Nvidia web driver with no change (and no resolutions added for that matter)

So i moved on to bus frequency settings (CPU at 2.20Ghz And Bus Frequency at 198999 (for that 10% Decrease fix idea earlier in the thread) and still no change.

I do also have a audio static noise (I've band aid fixed by going into Midi Setup and turning the frequency to 192hz)

Running El Capitan + Clover EFI (as per Fusions guide)

DELL M1530

2.20Ghz T7500 CPU (according to BIOS)

4G DDR2

GPU: I was under the impression was an 8600GT but as i said.. it says GS in system info)

Everything else is working nice enough as long as i change any audio settings i find to 192hz.. Sleep is broken (sometimes works, sometimes restarts.. i turn it off anyway)

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Successfully installed High Sierra Release 10.13_17A365 on my Dell XPS M1530/Intel T9300/GF 8600M (external HFS+ HDD for testing  :))...

Steps to install or upgrade install:
1)  Upgrade Clover to r4220 and latest config.plist & kexts for Sierra/High Sierra.
2)  Download "Install macOS High Sierra.app" v13.0.64 from Mac App Store.
3)  Prior to update, delete NVRAM.plist files from all EFI partitions (incl USB drives) and clear NVRAM (sudo NVRAM -c command in terminal).  This avoids "OSInstall.mpkg damaged/missing" error.
4)  Directly run "Install macOS High Sierra.app" from Applications folder, targeting the desired HFS+ or APFS installation partition --> automatically creates "macOS Install Data" folder on that volume...

5) At first restart, boot to "macOS Install" ---> files from install packages written to disk...

6) At second restart, boot to High Sierra partition, setup user etc.  If there is a kernel panic after kext caches are rebuilt, just boot again into High Sierra.  The Disabler.kext will prevent future panics once it is in the pre-linked kernel cache (blocks AppleYukon2.kext in /S/L/E).

Installation Notes
  • Clover's default values for FF/FFM/PF and BIOS ver/date/Board-ID data (MBP7,1 SMBIOS) --> avoids error while "verifying firmware".
  • Install apfs.efi driver in /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64 only if you need to install on APFS target volume.
  • If upgrading existing OS X on HDD, HFS+ is preserved (on SSD HFS+ will be converted automatically to APFS).

Hi fusion71au!

Would you have a detailed tuto to install high sierra on the same M1530 as yours, including BIOS settings?

My HD is a new one, no os on it.

Thank you for your help!  :)

I see fusion71au has High Sierra running on his 1530. Does anyone have it running on a 1330? I have Sierra on it now and had previously failed to get High Sierra to work when it first came out.

Attached to this post is my latest Clover config.plist and kexts for installation and post installation.  Recommend you update Clover to the latest r4644 (with ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi in /Drivers64 for apfs filesystem support) and have it successfully booting your system before trying the upgrade.  @crazybirdy’s script can also be used to download the Installer.app for HS or Mojave from Apple’s servers.

To install Mojave Beta, follow @Asentientbot's instructions detailed in post#2082 (summarized in the spoiler below).  I booted into High Sierra and launched the patched OSInstall.mpkg to start installation on the target HFS+ volume.  On first boot into Mojave, I used single user mode to rebuild the prelinkedkernel and system caches ...

Spoiler

Patch the installer
1. Get a copy of the install app and open Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg
2. Copy the folder Packages somewhere you can edit
3. cd to the folder and pkgutil --expand OSInstall.mpkg Expanded
4. Open the folder Expanded and open Distribution in a text editor
5. Find the function InstallationCheck(prefix) and put return true; at the very beginning
6. Remove the text installsOS=true from the same file
7. pkgutil --flatten Expanded Patched.mpkg
You will now have an install file "Patched.mpkg" that you can double-click and install to a HFS+ partition.

Patch the installed system to boot
1. On the partition, copy boot.efi from /usr/standalone/i386/ to /System/Library/CoreServices
2. Open /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist in a text editor
3. Make Kernel Flags as <string>-v -no_compat_check keepsyms=1</string>
This will make the disk bootable, bypass the prohibitory symbol (\) and show symbols in kernel panic logs (If it panics, let it reboot and pick your High Sierra partition; it should automatically show the log in "your computer was restarted because of a problem" dialog once it boots.)

Fix the kernel panic on Penryn systems
Replace /S/L/UserEventPlugins/com.apple.telemetry.plugin with the one from High Sierra 10.13.6, or patch the binary file in place - substitute "Mojave" with the name of your Mojave partition.

For 10.14 db1 18A293u ~ db5 18A347e

sudo perl -pi -e 's|\x28\x07\x00\x00\x85|\xC8\x06\x00\x00\x85|g' /Volumes/Mojave/System/Library/UserEventPlugins/com.apple.telemetry.plugin/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.telemetry

For 10.14 db6 18A353d

sudo perl -pi -e 's|\xD8\x06\x00\x00\x85|\xC8\x06\x00\x00\x85|g' /Volumes/Mojave/System/Library/UserEventPlugins/com.apple.telemetry.plugin/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.telemetry

Patch USB function
Replace from High Sierra:
/System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBHostFamily.kext

Recognize the Tesla GPU
Copy from High Sierra:

  •     NVDANV50HalTesla.kext
  •     NVDAResmanTesla.kext
  •     IONDRVSupport.kext
  •     IOGraphicsFamily.kext

This allows changing the brightness and shows the correct display in About This Mac

Enable the framebuffer and acceleration
Copy from High Sierra:

  •     GeForceTesla.kext - patch this kext from terminal

sudo perl -pi -e 's|\x48\x8b\x07\xff\x90\xc0\x00\x00\x00|\x48\x8b\x07\x66\x0f\x1f\x44\x00\x00|g' /Volumes/Mojave/System/Library/Extensions/GeForceTesla.kext/Contents/MacOS/GeForceTesla
  •     GeForceGA.kext
  •     GeForceTeslaGLDriver.bundle
  •     GeForceTeslaVADriver.bundle

On first boot into Mojave, fix kext permissions, rebuild prelinkedkernel and system caches in single user mode

/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions
chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions
touch /System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /
reboot

PostInstall
Setup Appstore software catalog for developer seed
In terminal, enter the following...

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "clear dict" -c "add :SeedProgram string DeveloperSeed" "$3/Users/Shared/.SeedEnrollment.plist"
sudo /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.14seed-10.14-10.13-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

To check catalog, type

sudo defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL

Create Recovery HD Partition with dm binary
You can easily create a new Recovery HD for your Mojave volume with the dm binary (attached in Misc Files).  First, download Mojave's BaseSystem.dmg and BaseSystem.chunklist from Apple's developer software catalog (or obtain the files from inside Mojave Beta's Install app eg /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Mojave\ Beta.app/Contents/SharedSupport folder).  Assuming you are booted into your Mojave volume (and all the above files are in the Downloads folder), run the following command in terminal...

~/Downloads/dm erp / ~/Downloads/BaseSystem.dmg ~/Downloads/BaseSystem.chunklist 0 0 0 0 0

Misc Files for Mojave Beta Install.zip

For those who want to install from USB, I can recommend @dosdude1's macOS Mojave Patcher to create the USB installer for Mojave Beta.  This allows installation to proceed with MBP5,1 or MBP7,1 SMBIOS :).

XPS M1530 Clover Settings for HS & Mojave.zip

installScript_1014fullapp.zip

Misc Files for Mojave Beta Install.zip

Installation went smooth but have run into an issue I have not seen before and tried on two different SSD drives Samsung 850 Pro 512GB and Samsung EVO 860 512GB.  I can only boot clover off a flash drive.  I tried installing Clover onto SSD EFI then the root of the SSD and all I get is a flashing cursor.  Tried initially as we are suppose to do for Legacy Bios "install boot0af in MBR" then tried the 2nd choice boot0ss.  Nothing works just a flashing cursor, never reaches the clover GUI.  Tried two different XPS M1530's.

Bios settings are correct AHCI and Flash Cache Module enabled.

Have you ever observed this or anyone else and if so what did you do to resolve it?

Thanks!

SOLVED:

Clover version 4630 if freshly installed without a prior known booting version is broken.  You can upgrade over a working version no issues but if you freshly format a drive install Sierra 10.13.6, boot your flash drive then install Clover v4630 is won't boot.

I installed a prior version 4097, it boot fine then upgraded to v4630.

@oSxFr33k,

Apparently Clover r4541+ and newer switched to using dd to write legacy bootsectors, due to fdisk440 being 32bit and deprecated by @Slice.  This might cause problems writing the boot sectors, depending on SIP setting in Mojave - according to @crazybirdy's HowTo-10.14.x for his MBR patch

Clover r4514+ boot Mojave fine.
Clover r4541+ pkg - Writting boot0af to /dev/disk0 with Mojave.(fdisk440 32bit is no more supported)

        add to /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist as below.

        <key>RtVariables</key>
        <dict>
            <key>BooterConfig</key>

            <key>CsrActiveConfig</key>

My config on usb flash drive and SSD drive has those rt variables set.  So a reinstall of v4630 still does not set bootsectors correctly with 0x28 and 0x67 set unless it does work on Mojave and not HS?

@oSxFr33k,

I've found that manually installing bootaf to the target disk's MBR with dd works in Mojave or High Sierra.

Procedure

1.  Download i386 folder (attached to this post) with boot0af inside to your ~/Downloads folder

2.  Determine disk number of target disk with "diskutil list" command - in my case, USB = disk1

3.  Unmount target disk in terminal

sudo diskutil unmountDisk rdisk1

4.  Write boot0af to MBR with dd

sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk1 bs=512 count=1 of=~/Downloads/i386/origMBR
cp ~/Downloads/i386/origMBR ~/Downloads/i386/newMBR
sudo dd if=~/Downloads/i386/boot0af of=~/Downloads/i386/newMBR bs=440 count=1 conv=notrunc
sudo dd if=~/Downloads/i386/newMBR of=/dev/rdisk1 count=1 bs=512
sudo diskutil mountDisk rdisk1

I have a question for you about this ACPI error "AE Already Exists" also seen before

I think this is a cosmetic error and you can safely ignore.  The same issue was discussed in @Maldon's thread here.  You have to remember that our machines have BIOSes that were never meant to run macOS, let alone Mojave :hysterical:.

@fusion71au

Is our 8600M GPU supported in Mojave?   I don't think its a metal supported GPU, do you still get acceleration in 10.14.1?

Yes, after installing High Sierra graphics kexts and patched GeForceTesla.kext as described before in this post...

Process of install and post install patching can be automated with @dosdude's macOS Mojave Patcher.
