[Question] SL running on GA EX-58 UD5 but only 32bit

Hi there!

 

Thanks for providing all this invaluable information. Thanks to all you guys (especially digital dreamer and netkas) I was able to successfully install SL on my EX-58 UD5 based "HackMac".

My only issue is that those RTL drivers for the onboard Realtek 8111 GigE will not work properly when I boot the system in 64bit mode. It does boot and the two NICs are visible and show a cable as being connected but there is nothing going across. I have my NICs on DHCP and SL will only assign "internal" IPs because it cannot see any DHCP packets.

Obviously it would be very nice to run SL in "native" 64bit mode so that all 64bit applications are able to actually make use of more than 4gig of RAM.

 

So the questions are:

a) Anyone has a better / updated driver for the Realtek chipset?

If not then I suppose my best bet is to get an Intel PCI-E Ethernet adapter, correct? Any particular model I should look for?
