Disabling ds_store and .file creation on all volumes?

I've seen info on how to disable ds_store creation over network shares, but is it possible to disable it on all local drives, too? I hate having them clog up my usb drives and zip files.

I think, it is impossible. Also, Finder would display file information and thumbnails of pictures / videos very slowly if you did.

Just clean them up every few days using OnyX or a similar program.

So long.

TotalFinder can store ds_store on one place, not on all drives.
