Hi,

I'm running a dual monitor setup with monitor 1 on the left and monitor 2 on the right.

For various reasons, I'd like to set monitor 2 as my MAIN monitor under OS X (the screen with the dock and menu bar).

It works the usual way, by dragging the menubar under Displays - Arrangement, but after each reboot its back the way it was, with monitor 1 set back as main.

I'm assuming this value is stored in CMOS or something on a real Mac, and therefore not getting set correctly on a hack.

Is there a value I can add to com.apple.Boot.plist or Extra/smbios.plist to preserve this setting?

(I know I could just swap the monitor cables, but that'd cause problems on my Windows install....)

Many thanks for any help! :censored2:

Thanks for the feedback... on mine, it looks like it's trying to start the way I set it - the pointer first appears at the top left of the right-hand monitor, as it should... but then there's like a brief "flash" and it's all set back on the left again.

Are you using the latest Chameleon? And 10.6.1?

Update: on a hunch, I switched off GraphicsEnabler in com.apple.Boot.plist and went back to using the EFI string for my graphics card which I was using under 10.5 - and now it works.

Some flaw in Chameleon's card detection, or some extra setting that I missed? I would prefer to do everything the "modern" way, but I do really need the monitors set up this way, so for now this will have to do.
