This s my new lap config -

Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2M). 2X1GB Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM (2 x 1GB). 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive. 15”. Integrated CREATIVE Sound Blaster® X-Fi MB Audio Software Solution. Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. Wifi. Bluetooth.

I dont think 4500MHD supports QE/CI. Cos I want to do some iphone dev, is it worth getting this lap? Will audio, video work well here? I dont need games on a mac. Jus to try mac and iphone dev.

Even if I ve to choose a comp I ll only get a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350. Will this comp support QE/CI?

I wondered how much image editing would suffer without QE/CI. Low resolutions dont matter much. I saw some youtube videos of GIMP, iVideo on netbook. I can fairly conclude that I ve enough speed to draw in-characters in either GIMP or blender without lags and crashes. Tell me if I am wrong.

DON'T buy a laptop specifically for OSX without QE support. Core Image it's possible to do without- most of the older G4 Macbooks and iBooks don't support CI, but still the user experience isn't bad as only a few 'eye candy' effects are missing. But no QE= no video hardware acceleration at all. It's almost like using Windows in Safe Mode. It sucks. You'll have problems with artifacts and 'smearing' video when you navigate the screen or zoom an image. I certainly wouldn't plan on doing anything graphic related. I'd recommend getting a laptop that's fully supported for OSX- you may be able to live okay without Ethernet, or even onboard sound, but no graphic acceleration is just a waste.

Netbook got QE/CI ;) whats you budget and where do you want too buy it from

Oops. From the Dell US website I would choose dell inspiron 15 which costs $993. The website also quotes instant savings $294 and final price $699, dk what this is. This s max price for me. I dont mind dual cores or core2duos as long as they work fast enough. Also let me know abt top line netbooks which shld fit inside this price bracket. Pls reco which one's better. I ll check India price and finalize. Tks for taking the time.
