quixos Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 you got a little confused there, it happens. no OSX 11 yet, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, and 10.4.5, are readily available. someone would need more information about the problem before they could tell you if you should install an earlier version. good luck. non sequitur Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 x11 lets you use linux apps using the X windowing system, i believe. all i know is that it lets you use the GIMP (open source photoshop of sorts) and openoffice (open source ms office alternative), among other apps. both of those are free and openoffice is much better than paying all that money for ms office. X Windows was somewhat popular in the academic enviroment and is connected to the free/open source software movement, but it never went mainstream. It is nice that Apple is directly supporting X11, but it really is not likely to be used by the vast majority of users.
