iMovie errors

I have iMovie installed as part of the iLife 06 suite on a PC with Mac OS X 10.4.6. There are several really weird problems. First of all when I try to save, the movie won't save. It says it's saving now but it's stays at the scroll bar for a really long time (I once even let it go for over night but it still wouldnt save). Second is since I couldn't do a save, i did a save as but that didn't work either. At the very end of the save it would tell me that there isn't enough disk space left or that it might be write protected. However, there was plenty of space left, over 80 gigs when it's only a 40 gig project and the destination wasn't write protected, I copied over a file there manually and it worked. I also tried saving to an empty 80gig external hard drive but it came up with the same error. If anyone could help me with this problem, I would appreciate it VERY much!
