Slaytanic
Hi, I've just finished installing OSX on my laptop and everything seems to work fine (1680x1050 with my Intel Graphics Extreme 915 integrated videocard, 1280x1024 with the NVidia 6600Go) except Ethernet: I don't understand how the configuration works.. Each time I open "System Preferences" => "Network" I get a message "A new network port has been detected: Build-in Ethernet x etc" where x changes from time to time.. I press ok and I find 3-4 Built-in Ethernet X in the list of ethernet devices.. I must say that the ethernet card works fine since it gets the IP from the DHCP server and can talk with my other PC, but when I try to set manually the IP, when I press Apply new Built-in Ethernet items appear in the list and the ethernet card still uses the DHCP.. Another question: I've set the keyboard layout to Italian buit some keys, like the one onver the TAB key (which if pressed together with SHIFT produces the pipe symbol "|"on the italian keyboard) produce the wrong characters or a strange sequence like \302\243 when I press SHIFT+3 (the £ symbol) for example.. What could be the cause? Thank you in advance for any help! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18511-ethernet-configuration-problem/ Share on other sites

Invisible Ink
Same problem for me. NetworkServices are growing on and on in my preferences.plist Now my system has nearly 30 (fake) network interfaces I saw in my NetworkInterfaces.plist that the ethernet interfaces DOES NOT have a BSD Name entry (is it a normal behaviour???). If I add this entry with value "en0" or some other numeric value ("enX"), the entry disappear on next reboot. Each time I click "Apply" after any modification in Ethernet port configuration, a new port appears ... Didn't find a solution yet. Everything ok for airport ethernet interface and 1349 (firewire) ethernet interface. Any suggestion appreciated.
