Joey Fatone
I have been using iDeneb 10.5.5 to run OSX and Windows XP on my PC for almost a year now, but recently ran into a weird problem. I've never had any problems like this before. I bought a new CPU(Intel Q9550) and power supply(Ultra LSP650) and installed them. Now neither one of the operating systems will shut down properly. It will cut signal to the monitor, but the computer won't turn off without me holding down the power button. It is more of an annoyance than anything, but I would like to know what could be causing this. Could the power supply cause this issue? I have read that a usual problem is a program not shutting down properly, but I would find that odd because it never happened before I installed the new hardware. I have attached a screen shot of the Activity Monitor in case you may be able to see a known culprit. I also would like to know how I can tell that all 4 cores of my new CPU are correctly working in OSX. The "About This Mac" section says there was an error gathering information on the hardware, but I can select to use 4 processors in Pro Tools(which is why I use OSX in the first place). I also have Temperature Monitor and it gets separate values for 4 cores. The Activity Monitor does seem to show activity in all 4 cores whilst running Photoshop, but I would like to be certain.
