chris3g
Guess it's time for a new card but...anyone still using one of these and able to get it working in snow leopard? I've only got 1 resolution and no QE/CI
chipxsd
I was hoping I could find the answers here, but apparently no one managed to get the x1950xt to work in the 10.6. I've put the EFI gfx string in the /extra/com.boot....plist file, and fixed the 0x7244 id in the ATIRadeonX1000.kext file, like I did on my Leopard installation, but it doesn't work in the Snow Leopard anymore. Is there a natit, or something similar for the Snow Leopard?
chris3g
i was able to get QE (translucent menu bar) but no res change, see the sticky thread for the X1950GT for the info. What is your EFI string?
chipxsd
I have the translucent menu. I achieved it using the EFI string and natit.kext - both separately, but unfortunately with same results. This is my efi graphics string for the x1950xt (0x72441002): 6c0200000100000001000000600200000d00000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000010101 060000007fff04001e0000004100540059002c00560065006e0064006f00720049004400000006000 00002101c0000006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000f0000004154592c41 6c6f70696173220000004100540059002c00450046004900560065007200730069006f006e0000000 e00000030312e30302e323139001e0000004100540059002c00440065007600690063006500490044 0000000600000080720e0000006e0061006d0065000000150000004154592c416c6f7069617350617 2656e7422000000400030002c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b0000 00646973706c617922000000400031002c006400650076006900630065005f0074007900700065000 0000b000000646973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c000000130000004154492c52616465 6f6e583139353020000000400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000f0 000004154592c416c6f7069617314000000400030002c006e0061006d00650000000f000000415459 2c416c6f7069617314000000400031002c006e0061006d00650000000f0000004154592c416c6f706 96173200000004100540059002c0043006f007000790072006900670068007400000035000000436f 7079726967687420414d4420496e632e20416c6c205269676874732052657365727665642e2032303 0352d3230303820000000400030002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000f00 00004154592c416c6f70696173
chris3g
ok i got it working now, QE, resolution, 2 displays. Using the instructions in the X1950GT thread, i did not have natit before.
chipxsd
Do you experience any graphical artifacts? (e.g. when scrolling in safari) I'm still trying to get it to work with the stock drivers - but I think it's a dead end street.

chipxsd
I guess there's no other way, but to use the ATINDRV.kext and ATIRNDRV.kext from the Leopard version. So far, graphics looks ok, smooth animation, no artifacts, I got 3337.965 FPS in glxgears (without these drivers, it was around 60FPS).
chipxsd
empty skull might be onto something: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184815 By the looks of his shell script, there's nothing I didn't try for myself before - Natit.kext didn't work. But I will give his script a chance, maybe I forgot something.
zortoflaven
Any idea if this would work with a Pro (7280) ? Guess I can just give it a go eh? Will post back with results. edit - No go. Removed the kext's suggest (1900Controller, ATIFramebuffer, ATISupport), added ATINDRV.kext and ATIRNDRV.kext from Leopard as well as Natit.kext. Repaired permission using Kext Utility. I also then tried adding my device ID to the ATIx1000.kext Info.plist file and that didnt work either. Guess I should just get a cheap, compatible card. digitallysick
I have the same card, sapphire x1950xt , Did you figure out how to do it yet? Do the old leopard drivers work?
chipxsd
Yes the 10.5.7 drivers work. You'll need to copy the: ATINDRV.kext ATIRNDRV.kext files from the Leopard's extensions folder to your Snow Leopard one. And delete (or rename to .disabled) the following files from the Snow Leopard's extension folder: ATI1900Controller.kext ATIFramebuffer.kext ATISupport.kext You will also need to use Natit or EFI gfx string (check mine). And don't forget to change or add the device ID (0x72441002) to the ATIx1000.kext.
demik475
I guess that doesn't work in 64 bit mode ?

digitallysick
currently my resolution is 1024 X768 will changing the drivers and string fix my resolution? For me the empty skull driver quits with some type of error, line

chipxsd
Unfortunately empty_skull's script didn't work for me, I even modified the .plist files by hand.
digitallysick
I edited my info plist and copied your strings, I modified the rest to as for 1440X900 or whatever. Still it only gives me 1156X1024? or some crazy resolution like that. I can't understand what changed so much between leopard and snow leopard for the graphics? Were you able to get full resolution? with quartz enabled?

Cr1st1one
I have the Club3D version of 1950XT (same id 7244. 1002). I'm running 10.6.2 Snow Leo.. everything works..translucent bar menu, smooth graphics, but cannot change res or refresh rate. I have a CRT display, used for video/photo edit and a 60Hz refresh is very annoyng. Also have artifacts (when scrolling in Safari, closing folders). I've tried those scripts posted here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t184815.html .. Anyone resolved the problem? Thanks!
