bogdanw
Previosly, for more than 8 months now, I have installed and used Leopard. Now, on 28 August, the day Apple released it's new cat , I wanted to try Snow Leopard. As I didn't succeeded in installing a retail version of Leopard, I've searched for something else on Snow: SnowOSX Universal 10.6 GM (10a432) v3.5 The installation went ok but not all components are working. The memory is seen as running at 800Mz, no audio, no LAN, and graphic card only works on 1024x768 resolution. Anyone with better news?
bogdanw
Well, it's all done. Audio working with VoodooHDA, LAN an display fixed with EFIstudio. After installing FakeSMC the memory is seen at correct values. One problem remaining ...it doesn't start in 64 bit mode.
enb14
you need to fix kext permisions and recontruct Extensions.mkext in order to boot in x64 look other threads that I've made.
bogdanw
you need to fix kext permisions and recontruct Extensions.mkext in order to boot in x64 look other threads that I've made. Thank for the tip! I found your post and followed the FIX Boot in -s mode then mount partition then:kextcache -v 1 -t -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions kextcache -v 1 -t -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions reboot. Unfortunately I get an error message Dependency resolution failure 64-bit kexts must use com.apple.kpi.* libraries, not com.apple.kernel.*libraries Any ideas? bogdanw
For the moment I gave up Snow although I have it installed on a partition. I am waiting for a 64 bit version of NTFS for Mac® OS X 7.0, since then I'll keep on using Leopard. Today I updated the Snow Leopard installation to 10.6.2 and I had to replace sleepenabler with this one http://www.kexts.com/view/146-sleepenabler...sx_10.6.2).html What cutomization options did you use???? I have the same motherboard but cannot get it to even start!! Thanks Snow Leopard or Leopard? I sugest using IPC 10.5.6 for Leopard or SnowOSX Universal 10.6 GM (10a432) v3.5 for Snow. Easy installation without having already an OSX installed. I am having a problem. FryedFrog
I've spent the last week or so trying to make progress installing on a DP45SG based system. First, I'd like to thank everyone for the posts here - without this info I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have. Currently, using Empire EFI v1.085, and using the "GraphicsEnabler=Y PciRoot=0" boot options, I'm able to begin the installer, and select the preliminary options. However, two problems are preventing me from getting further in the process. First, my USB mouse doesn't seem to work. I've tried using two different USB mice, and neither seems to work. My USB keyboard is fine, however, so I'm not sure what the problem is, and I couldn't seem to find anyone reporting that problem. Secondly, once I get to the step in the install where I need to select a disk to install to, the entire install seems to freeze. No disks are displayed and the install no longer responds, forcing me to hard reboot my system. I looked around, but couldn't seem to find anyone with that particular problem; although it may be that I'm simply not looking in the right place? Has anyone heard or seen these particular problems, and/or have any ideas I can use to keep moving forward with the install? I don't have access to a Mac to try and create a custom boot USB disk as some tutorials have suggested; is it possible to create one of these custom boot disks using Linux or Windows 7? My computer has the following specs: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Motherboard: Intel DP45SG, with 6 gigs of RAM Video card: NVidia GTX 260 Target Install Drive: Western Digital SATA drive, 320 gb, unformatted. When I'm doing the install, the unformatted 320 gb is the only one hooked up - I disconnect my main drive with Windows 7 on it as a precaution against causing any problems with my main OS. When doing the install, the BIOS SATA settings are set to AHCI. If anyone has any advice I can use to try and get this install working, I would be eternally grateful

What version of BIOS is installed? Older versions had problems with USB, in my case the USB keyboard was inactive after restart. About the hard drive: if it's unformated first you should start disk utility from top menu and format the drive with GUID partition table.

I have an Intel DP45SG motherboard, and an Intel core 2 duo E7400 cpu. I have been trying to put snow leopard on my computer for a while now with now success. First i thought it might be because i was trying to install it on an SSD, so now im just trying to put it on a regular HDD. That didn't work so i thought i must be my new video card (GeForce GTX 570) so i put in an older radeon card, but that also didn't fix the problem. I have tried using ###### but after i found this forum and saw the post i have quoted above i have been trying the empire efi. This has got me the closest. So as of now i put in the empire efi disk and wait for it to load, then take it out and put in my legit copy of snow leopard and press f5 and then begin to load. It loads for a while but eventually i get a bunch of kernel panics. Does anyone know why? How I can fix the problem? Or anything else to try? Things i have tried: started the snow leopard disk with the following options 1) -v (verbose mode) 2) -v -x (verbose with safe mode) Neither of these worked. I really want to get OSX running on my machine and eventually on my SSD. Current build: motherboard - Intel DP45SG cpu - Intel core 2 duo E7400 HDD - 120GB toshiba (actually came out of my ps3, but has been formatted and used as an external since then) video card - HIS IceQ Radeon HD 5670 RAM - 4GB (4x1GB) corsair Please help!
