Thanks bob,

After I installed the osx on my pc, basically I can use it as normally including internet browsing.

I have installed office 2004, speed download 4 and macvidia driver, I have restarted my pc.

The system starts normally in the beginning until the computer shows the blue wallpaper (default) and my mouse cursor, then nothing more!

I can move the mouse point normally but the mac top menu (i mean the pull down menu) never show up.

Hope this information would be useful.

Thanks

Dear free30,

Do u mean that I need to boot from the DVD and use the disk utility to repair the hard disk (but not re-install the program)?

Because this is my second time to meet the same problem. I had reinstall the system and software, it looks working after the warm boot. Then cannot get into the system again after the cold boot. (The pull down menu and the dock dissappeared). Do you think the program "Macvidia" would lead this problem? I'm using Geforce FX 5900 (AGP).

Not enough information to be sure. And would advise posting and not sending message as other might be able to help.

I'm using a GeForce FX5200 and I don't use MacVidia at all.

As I say sounds like Finder and Disk permissions from what I have learnt. I need a patched Finder for Intel sse3. If I install an update say, and it replaces core files with unpatched ones it brakes my system much like yours. So to avoid I install SemjaZa SecUpd003 (intel) after. Which as far as I can understand a patched Finder core files. It's avaliable on demonoind.

I suggested repairing disk permissions as this might stop finder or other service and was an easy try. And yes not reinstalling just repairing.

As I say not knowing your sysytem specs and install dvd and which patchs no one will be able to help.

(whats cold and worm boot)

Look like I say, before you installed the update your finder worked, some guides advise backing it up and restoring. Other guides recommend using pasifist and install all but three directorys in the package which contain the new finder files. Or install the new patched ones after, availible on Hackint0sh org forum (Note the zero).

I think I saw a way of restoring the Finder files in -s mode, but I don't remeber all the commands, you might find it searching, else reinstall. Update correctly or don't update.

Oh I getting the wrong end of the tail.

I saw mkzsniper post saying system updating; guessing he was downloading and installing the securety update.

But still stands, you need a patched Finder. Ever its not on your DVD, or you installed with wrong patchs, or your replacing it, or your system is not working for another reason.

Hope that helps a little.
