Ok, so I have a Dell Dimension C521, I have heard success stories in installing OS X on it, but I can't seem to get passed the purple space wallpaper with spinning beach ball just before install. I'm using the Boot-132 cd, and booting a 10.5.7 DVD, I had a problem with it saying that it could not find the root device, but I solved that with the ApplenForceATA.kext. I've tried booting with -v, -x , -f, and -s, but nothing seems to get the install any further. The command that I use is:

rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo -v -legacy rd=disk1s3

I found this on an AMD tutorial in another thread, but I always get stuck at the spinning beach ball, any help on this would be appreciated. Maybe I'm missing a kext of something, but I don't think that it would get this far if I was, but I'm not an expert by any means.

So it turns out I needed dsmos.kext after some more research. I got the dvd to boot, but what I did not realize is that restore dvds will not work ;)

I tried getting around this by restoring from a .dmg of my macbook's drive, but now another problem came up. The dvd wont format my drive, it sees it, but when I go to format it, it'll say it timed out or something like that, then in the disk utility, it'll disappear from the side panel.
