So I got my MacBook Pro yesterday, this thing is awesome! For those of you that use temperature monitoring software, which ones have you tried and which did you think was the best?

I actually haven't tried any of them yet, since I'm currently cloning the OEM drive to my 7200rpm drive. But one that looks promising is simply called "Temperature Monitor" by Bresink Sofware.

And I know some of you are going to say not to worry about it, they're built for it and blah blah... but I'm a computer tech by trade and I just have to know these things.

So is there something better out there than "Temperature Monitor" by Marcel Bresink Software?

As you have a real Mac then google for istatmenus and more of their products.

On hacks, Temperature Monitor is all I have managed to find that works. It's generally known to report CPU temps 10 degrees higher than actual. One way to test is to set an alarm in BIOS to compare the differences.

Ok cool, I'll look into it. I just got my system back up and running, and tried Temperature Monitor. It works well, I only wish that there was some way to turn the dock icon off altogether. I have it set on the menu bar and that's all I need. Oh well.

Time to check out istatmenus

check out CoolBook

It is $10 but well worth it if it will run on your Pro.

Allows throttling, undervolting, etc., in order to maximize

battery life by decreasing energy demands and temp.

I use it on both of our MacBooks to decrease operating

temps.
