Vaurdan
Hello everyone! I'm trying to install iATKOS v7 in a partition that i've created. Everything runs normal, the installation script does the disk check for about 40 mins, and Leopard start the installation. Then, 20 minutes installing, and I recive a kernel panic error. I've taken some pictures so you can help me more easily. I've checked the md5sum and it is the correct one. Beerkex'd
It's normally ok to skip the disk check, it's just checking your DVD. 40 minutes is too long to wait. Looks like there's a problem with the ATA controller drivers, do you have more than 2GB RAM? Vaurdan
I've 4GB of RAM. How much is the normal time to wait? Can you tell me a app for Windows XP to check the computer specs? I can't tell you detailed my specs, cause I really don't have sure of it. I just know that is a Geforce 9400 Go 256mb , 4GB Ram, 320gb HDD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172729-iatkos-kernel-panic-during-the-installation/#findComment-1187826 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
There's no way for me to know but it shouldn't take 40 minutes. How long does it normally take for you to copy the contents of a 4,7 GB DVD to your HDD? It should take less time than that. ... The install DVD you are using seems to have old P-ATA controller drivers with the 64-bit addressing bug. At the Darwin boot prompt, press F8 and type maxmem=2048. Alternatively you can try booting with -legacy Let me know if it works. I'm able to choose the operating system, and when I boot OSX, it doesn't load. See the picture below Ideas? Ok, new update. I was able to acess verbose mode and the error is: Still waiting for root device. I searched on my bios but find nothing. Beerkex'd
Post specs Type "still waiting for root device" in the search box. If you are using a SATA drive, set the controller to AHCI mode in the BIOS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Host...oller_Interface Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172729-iatkos-kernel-panic-during-the-installation/#findComment-1187918 Share on other sites
