Hi all,

Does anybody know if its possible to downgrade a running 10.5.7 installation to 10.5.0 or 10.5.1?

The problem is that i have a presonus v-fire interface where the drivers only work till 10.5.0 or 10.5.1.

Maybe anybody knows howto "patch" the existing presonus driver that it will work on 10.5.7.

Or just install an "old" 10.5.0 kernel from the retail dvd, maybe that will work. I'm not able to get the retail dvd to boot properly..

thanks.......

No.

You can't downgrade from 10.5.6 to 10.5.1 by installing the 10.5.1 update!!

In the same way that you can't go from Windows XP SP 3 to SP 1 by installing XP Service pack 1.

You need someone to help you fix the driver so that it will work with 10.5.6.

Ok...thanx for your reply.... but can i run the 10.5.1 kernel on a 10.5.6 installation?

Or ..... who is able to fix the driver.... thats the best option...

i will post the driver...

You probably could use the old kernel but it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Try it and see what happens, you can just drop it at the root of your drive, give it another name so you don't overwrite your existing mach_kernel and load it from the darwin boot prompt.

You can attach the driver to your post, but I think there's a more appropriate sub forum for this in the development section.
