EXTREME lag when installing nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS using NVInject + few other questions :)

i tried using nvinject to get my nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 256 meg to work in Kalyway 10.5.2. I know that it does have support, but every time i install it there is extreme lag and i have to reinstall the system. is there something else besides nvinject that will work better?

also, because i have a pre-core system, can i download the kalyway 10.5.3 update and then safely use the apple software update to download the mac os x 10.5.7 combo update?

one more thing: my dad has a 500 GB external HDD, with important files on it. if i want to use timemachine backup, will it erase all of the files that are currently on it, or will it save the backup as one big .dmg/iso file?

2G DDR2 RAM

Belkin FD57050 USB (works )

nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS (dunno yet....)
