ive got a acer as5920g with a 8600m gs 256mb

vga works fine but hdmi wont

i used the driver from a iatkos build it shows

if i plug in hdmi it gets no screen on the tv and turns the laptop screen black and if i unplug the main monitor stays black till after a reboot

anyone know if i could get hdmi to work like vga does either extended or mirrored

It's a known issue with the 8600 chipset, I believe. I've encountered it with my desktop system, and it looks like you've got it with your laptop version of that video card.

Pay attention to the part where the guy says he tried a newer LCD display and that worked. It could be the size / resolution of your external monitor.

 

In any event, I recommend you research this issue within the graphic hardware forum. Just doing a search for '8600m VGA' brings up a LOT of relevant posts to your issue.
