bearses
I'm looking to buy an amd desktop pc to run xp and osx on, and I have a budget of $3,000. I'm buying it from ibuypower which allows insane levels of customization of hardware, so I know exactly what I'm getting. The question is, if I want an amd cpu, and an nvidia card, what's the best, most cutting edge hardware I can buy that's compatible with osx86? alternatively, will I be better off buying a mac? will it run windows xp as well as the pc? and what about ubuntu? what is your personal experience in this matter? But if u want it mostly for mac, u should buy a mac with good specs and with bootcamp u will be running windows amazingly, maybe even better than a pc. Thats my opinion. if u buy a mac get an iMac or Mac pro... bearses
are games on bootcamp known to have problems? ^^^^^^ *bump* ^^^^^^^ 2 more questions then I'm done: ;;; 1. (Hypothetical) Let's say I wanted to get an AMD PC (I prefer amd to intel). Can someone link me to a list of known (or unknown) compatible hardware so I can get osx86 up and running, sans hair-pulling? 2. (Hypothetical) People say that bootcamp macs run windows way faster than windows machines themslelves, but if I had osx86 running on a supercharged, dual 1gb graphics cards, 8gb ram, everything maxed out pc (which is a lot cheaper than I thought it was)... Would it still be slower than buying a 3,000 dollar mac? mountain
Don't ever buy a Mac. Mouse accuracy sucks, text is not as sharp, stupid short cuts can't even close a damn program with a single click, autoscroll is a pain in the ass, etc... it's ok to have it as a secondary OS. People say that bootcamp macs run windows way faster than windows machines themslelves That's complete BS, that was prob came out an apple fanboy. MGJulius
1) If you want compatible hardware check out the wiki. It's on the top right of this page. Btw IMO since the Core2Duo series was launched Intel has outpreformed AMD on every series...I would only go AMD if and only if your on a budget. Since you have a $3,000 budget I would get a nice Core i7 which will outperform the Phenom II anyday. 2) How windows runs solely depends on the hardware. Macs have quality hardware so they will run windows better than one with crappy, cheap hardware. However a computer with better hardware will outperform the mac...
