amarinov
stupid question i know, but is there anyway to restore an ntfs partition after the disk utility on 10.4.1 has partitioned it? i had a 120 g Western Digital drive(NTFS) and i heard that you could do a primary partition on the end of a drive and then use that for mac os x. wrong. acronis won't restore it. DiaboliK
no because with disk utility it wipes the drive before partitioning. sorry. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16230-restore-windows-partition/#findComment-104647 Share on other sites
amarinov
no wait, actually you can! i tried quite a few apps the claim to restore partition, but the only one that worked was Prosoft Media Tools. All my stuff was recovered, but i don't think the HFS partition was kept. Not as if that matters, there was nothing on it anyway. The apple disk utility obviously only writes to the table at the begining sectors of the drive, becuase when i looked through with a disk editor, there was data everywhere, so i reasoned that my stuff must still be there.
