hi guys,

my old mobo just burned so i need to buy a new one.

the hardware that i will put there is a q6600 and 4gb ddr2 800mhz ram.

my budget is 150$ and i would prefeer a gigabyte board.

Soo, whats the most compatible board that cover my needs?

Ps im wrting from a mobilephone, sorry for unformatted text

I suppose they might be. Still wouldn't recommend one unless you're going to be using the onboard video. For not a whole lot more, you can get a P43 (which is pretty much the same chipset as the P45) board that will overclock pretty well. That Q6600 is dying to be run at a 1333MHz bus, 3GHz.

I don't disagree with you.

The main benefit of a board like the G31M-ES2L is that it's MicroATX that's 100% compatible. It's also only $53 currently. If one needs a smaller form factor Mac, like say for an HTPC, it's an excellent choice.

Remember too, we in the OSx86 community are more than a bit spoiled by what we consider 'older' hardware, because the PC world moves so fast. If the P35 and G31 is 'old' then most of what Apple sells is positively ANCIENT. Luckily the Mini just got a refresh, but really, how many years was it before that, and I wonder how many more before the next?
