Hi everyone! First time, long time. I finally bit the bullet and installed the iPC 10.5.6 OSX86 package last night. Installation went pretty smoothly. HEre are my PC specs:

MSI K9A2 Platinum 790FX

AMD Athlon X2 5000+ BE

4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800

VisionTek ATi 4850

250GB WD Caviar HDD

So, after installation, I booted using the "-v -f" flags. I came up with the following panic:

panic (cpu 0 caller 0x001A8FFD)

I've done a google search and can find little info on this outside of 3 other people with the same panic, but no resolution. Without the "-f" boot flag, I can load into OSX perfectly fine and everything appears to running glowingly. I've installed iLife 09 and iWork 09.

OTHER ISSUES:

1) I can't get any sound from my onboard sound. I also have a Creative X-Fi plugged into the board, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. During installation, I chose the ALC888 drivers which match my onboard sound, but still...no sound. Any ideas?

2) As with other people, I have the "jerky screen" with my 4850. I'll be honest, at first I thought it was something I could deal with, but the more it happens, the more and more it starts to drive me crazy. Did I miss the fix for this in the forums?? I've been reading and searching, but these forums are so expansive that its possible I may have overlooked a fix.

3) I use a USB hub for my mouse and my keyboard. My mouse is a Logitech MX518 and my keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. My keyboard has not been identified by OSX, but still works fine outside of a few quirks. The mouse works fine as well, but when I turn on my printer, the mouse no longer works through the USB hub. I don't know why. If I unplug it and then plug it into the PC directly, it starts working again. I can't figure out why, but I really would like to keep it in the USB hub since the mouse cord isn't long enough to reach the PC.

That's pretty much it. Just the sound, the jerky screen, the mouse, and the panic code. I mean all and all I'm impressed with how seamless the install went and these problems are minor compared to what I see other people experiencing, so I do feel fortunate. Any assistance or guidance you can provide in these areas would be most appreciated. Thanks!!

EDIT: nevermind on the jerky screen. I just saw the solution. And it worked :thumbsup_anim: The funny thing is that now when I boot the PC, the mouse is frozen whether the printer is turned on or not. If I boot the PC with the mouse unplugged and then plug it in once OSX loads, not probem. It would be nice if there was a fix to be had.

ALRIGHT! I'm totally psyched! Did I figure out my problems? Well...yes and no.

No: I'm excited because my issues must be brand new and I must have "stumped the studs!" I can find no information regarding my panic code and I’m either unable or incapable of finding a solution to the mouse and sound issues. At least I feel as though I fit in here since no one else is able to either it seems.

Yes: I formated my HDD and reinstalled Win7 so that my PC at least became usable since the freezing mouse issue continued to get worse. The lack of any sound made me continuing with OSX86 impossible.

I'd love to give it another shot and I posted something in the installation forums asking for the pro's to ensure that I have correctly assessed my configuration for install, but no response there either.

Would it help if I donated to the server costs here or something?
