yuppiebenchmark
my software and hardware are listed below in sig. when my computer goes to sleep, it seems to shut down randomly. i can't find any specific situation where it does it, but it literally powers down the computer all by itself. the times i've actually noticed it happen, it was usually a few minutes after shutting off the monitor and going into sleep mode (i have them set for the same time interval). i searched the forums, but i only seem to be able to pull up information, on sleep issues related to waking the computer. where as my issue relates to something different. i doubt it's a hardware problem, i have a very good power supply. any ideas? Beerkex'd
Try disabling hibernation, maybe that'll help. Open terminal and type su pmset -a hibernatemode 0. Type man pmset to learn more about the command.

yuppiebenchmark
that seemed to work, but what does that command actually change about sleep mode? i noticed my "put hard disks to sleep when possible" is no longer checked under the Energy Saver menu.
