Metronomad
When I first installed OSX86 on my Toshiba Tecra 9100 using the deadmoo image my mini pci wireless card was showing up, although not working, as a PC card. I've since reinstalled with 10.4.6 from a patched disc and purchased an Atheros 5212 mini pci card, but I can't get any mini pci wireless card to show up at all any more, even from the deadmoo image. I've been trying out different versions of the bios and working with the settings there, but I still can't get any cards to show up as they once did. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Does the card work even in windows? does the toggle work? the reason i ask this is often laptops are incompatible with other mini-pci wifi adapters. See my post here i outline some of the possible hacks for incompatible mini-pci wireless cards. thrunner
You got at least two problems: 1. OSX 10.4.1 does/did not support Atheros chipset, although some Broadcom/Airport was supported. 2. OSX 10.4.5 does support Atheros but may have disabled some hardware keypad switching/powering of miniPCI wireless cards. It may have disabled some ACPI functions as well. Basically you can go back to 10.4.1 with a compatible Broadcom card or try a compatible USB or PCCard wireless with 10.4.5/6. Make sure your PCMCIA chipset works under 10.4.5/6 as well before trying a PCCard solution. Isn't it easier just to get a Mac if you like OSX? BloodDragon
I had the same problem with my pc-card, for some funny reason OS X can't seem to recognize any pc-card after the Jas 10.4.6 update. So then I went back to 10.4.5 and all was well again. Anyone got any idea why this is happening??
