So, I absent-mindedly used Apple Software Update, and restarted as per Update's instructions, and now I can't boot at all, not in single user, or safe mode :) . It takes me to a grey screen with a verbose overlay, and the black rectangle that says "You Need to Restart Your Computer." I have Kalyway 10.5.2.

This is what the verbose mode says:

...and it stops there. Anyone have any idea? Keep in mind, I am an extremely inexperienced (as illustrated by carelessly updating), so detailed explanations in plain words are good. I am not so concerned with the update as I am getting back into some usable mac interface or some way I can access a few important files I neglected to back up.

Okay it's not easy for you to do that on Software Update...

Even some macbook and pros had difficulties and brunt their motherboard.

Anyways you should have used the installer application and then do something with terminal just search the forum. :(

I think what I need to do is boot from the Kalyway 10.5.2 install disk and delete the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in terminal, but I do not know how to do that. Terminal pops up with "-bash-3.2#" what next? Does anyone know or know where to find the exact code for deleting the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in terminal starting at "-bash-3.2-#". And is this the right track?

Could it also be the dsmos.kext? how would I deal with that?

I can't seem to find detailed enough instructions for to get anything done.

Thank you in advance.
