Mac OSX Coder
Hi there. I just got the dvd and burned it using MagicISO. My Computer specs are: AMD Opteron 165 DFI Lanparty Motherboard IDE Hitachi HD 250GB (OCZ RAM) Basically I just downloaded the 10.4.6 file and attempted to install. Partitioned fine and everything etc etc. However, I went and added the AMD enabler (did I need it?) and pushed upgrade. I allowed it to DVD check, went to 100%. It goes on but then I get "There were errors installing the software." Please Restart I push restart and the system hangs at the Blue GUI. Help is much appreciated! TerraPhantm
I get an error like that if I try installing with a SATA drive. I was able to complete the install on an IDE drive, but I get a kernel trap when I try to boot into it. (I'm using the PPF1 patch) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15689-jas-1046-installations-problems/#findComment-100844 Share on other sites

I have Abit AA8XE Fatal1ty mobo and after boot from install cd, right after loader is started, it's going into black screen. I have tried both IDE and SATA drives with no difference. ragnar
I have the same problem getting the black screen, if I wait long enough my computer will reboot. I know that OSX can work as I previously had 10.4.1 working great before trying to install 10.4.6. Curlyboy, how does that post help anyone in this thread? ragnar
Okay, I got my install to work. Basically I had to be more selective in what I chose to install. When you are selecting which packages to install onto your system, make sure to expand the last item and select only the patches that you require. For me I deselect all the AMD stuff, and the USB soundblaster stuff. Hope this works for you. Gris
Hmm... 1. I've never use auto select for my drives. 2. I get black screen right after installer's GUI is loaded (mouse and blue background), but right before any window of installer appears (like welcome message). So I can't select any packages. keys88
I tried installing this and I got the following error immediately before installation: "Couldn't open Osinstall.mpkg". The DVD drive sounds like it's trying to read the DVD but it can't. I burned it twice, and checked the MD5 checksum which matched. My system: Inspiron 9300 2.0 GHz Pentium M, NEC ND-5500A DVD-RW. Myzar's 10.4.5 worked fine. Any help would be great!
